OCTOBER, 1973

Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll establishes the New Parish of ST. BENEDICT with Fr. Thomas E. Barry, as the first Pastor.

OCTOBER, 1973

FIRST MASS, at Milam Elementary School.

SEPTEMBER, 1975

Four Stores rented at Malecon Shopping Plaza are used as the Parish Center for all the activities.

JANUARY, 1977

Fr. José L. Hernando is appointed Administrator of St. Benedict.

MARCH, 1980

THE NEW CHURCH, located at 701 W. 77th St., is dedicated by Archbishop Edward A. McArthy. This project has the Temple, a Chapel, a Hall, the Parish Offices and a Kitchen.

AUGUST, 1986

THE NEW PARISH CENTER, is dedicated by the Auxiliary Bishop: Agustin A. Román. This building has an Auditorium with the capacity for 500 people, eight classrooms, four offices and a kitchen connected with the arcades outside.

JANUARY, 1989

Fr. Paniagua is appointed Administrator of St. Benedict.

1992 AND 1993

Parishioners constructed an addition to the worship to accommodate 300 more parishioners.

AUGUST, 2013

The city of Hialeah designated West 78 Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, as Rev. José Luis Paniagua Way. Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernández and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban Bovo made the presentation, unveiling the street sign.

30 YEARS OF SERVICE

Fr Paniagua did an amazing pastoral service with the Hialeah community. He developed religious education program and so many children did their sacraments. He acompained parish families in every stage of their life and made a remarkable and unforgettable fingerprint in parishioners life.

JUNE, 2018

Fr. Julio de Jesus is appointed Administrator of St. Benedict.

MARCH, 2019

Saint Joseph Perpetual Adoration Chapel was opened.

MARCH – MAY, 2020

During pandemic times, the Holy Blessed Sacrament drove to Hialeah streets and offered hope and console people’s heart. It was call “Jesus camina por las calles de Hialeah”.

APRIL, 2020

New altar was constructed. Saint John Paul II relic was put inside the new altar.

JUNE, 2020

As a result of the Holy Spirit inspiration at Saint Joseph Chapel, a grotto dedicated to Our Lady Of Lourdes was constructed.

2018 – 2023

Renew parish office, parish center and church restrooms, church and garden beautification.
